 Shirley Rollins Brown

President

Shirley Rollins Brown, the fourth child born to the late Doris Burrell Rollins and James W. Rollins. Shirley was raised in a loving and caring two family home with her parents, grandmother Christine Burrell, siblings - Dora Rollins Duncan (deceased), Willie, Robert and Vivian Rollins Allen; aunt Elizabeth Burrell Hudson and uncles Alfred, Hayward, and Milton Burrell. 

A 1972 graduate of Bay City High School, Shirley attended Texas Southern University in Houston where she received both Bachelor and Master of Arts Degrees in Home Economics Education, at which time she began a twenty-eight year career with Texas Cooperative Extension, Texas A&M University System. Her experience as an Off Campus Educator, planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs for youth and adults in Colorado and Fort Bend Counties will greatly impact her leadership on the Board. 

Residing in Sugar Land, Texas, Shirley is a member of Sugar Land Church of Christ. She says, "I'm extremely proud, blessed and excited to have this opportunity to serve as President of the Hilliard Alumni Association, giving back to my schools and the community of Bay City, Texas".  Just like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, she says, "There Is No Place Like Home".

Louis Ray

Vice-President

Mr. Ray has previously served as Treasurer and Director of Business under Thelma Smith and Judge John P. Davis.  His goal is to continue the legacy of Hilliard High School.

Louis E. Ray graduated from Hilliard in 1959 and married Joyce Widemon.  Together the Rays have five children.  He was employed by Celanese in 1971 and promoted to maintenance engineering in 1985; received the Bay City Plant Quality Award in 1987.  He attended numerous classes on Rotating Equipment at Texas A&M, the University of Houston, Bently Nevada, and I.R.D. Vibration Monitoring Schools.  In 1993, he was certified as a Level 3 Vibration Analyst by the Vibration Institute, Houston Chapter.  He was a Senior Rotating Equipment Specialist I when he retired in 2004.   Louis Ray is a member and trustee of Mother Zion Missionary Baptist Church.  His hobbies are golf and family genealogy.

Seretha Brown Griggs
Correspondence Secretary 

Seretha Brown Griggs is the daughter of the late Rev. Cassious H. Brown (Class of 1928) and Rosa Allen Brown (Class of 1929). She graduated from Hilliard High School in 1966 and set off to further her education at Huston-Tillotson University. There she received her Bachelor of Art Degree in Mathematics and Kinesiology. Upon graduating, she pursued a degree from Prairie View A&M University in Elementary Education, earning her Masters of Education.  She decided that teaching was her purpose in life, so she is currently a teacher at Hightower High School in Missouri City, Texas. She is an active member of the Mother Zion Baptist Church where she serves as the Sunday school pianist and sings in the choir. She has one daughter, Jane, two sons, Randolph and Lorenzo, and several grandchildren.
